Description

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic active against Gram-positive, such as Streptococcus, and Gram-negative microorganisms, such as Escherichia coli or Pasteurella spp. The mechanism of action consists of the inhibition of biochemical processes for the bacterial wall synthesis, through a selective and irreversible blockade of several enzymes, in particular transpeptidases, endopeptidases and carboxypeptidases.

DESCRIPTION

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic active against Gram-positive, such as Streptococcus, and Gram-negative microorganisms, such as Escherichia coli or Pasteurella spp. The mechanism of action consists of the inhibition of biochemical processes for the bacterial wall synthesis, through a selective and irreversible blockade of several enzymes, in particular transpeptidases, endopeptidases and carboxypeptidases.

INDICATIONS

Poultry (broilers, fattening ducks and fattening turkeys): Treatment of pasteurellosis and colibacillosis caused by strains sensitive to amoxicillin. Amoxicillin trihydrate is widely used in poultry medicine for treating and preventing bacterial infections. It is effective against a range of bacterial pathogens, including those causing respiratory infections like chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and air sacculitis, as well as enteric infections such as colibacillosis and fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

Administer dissolved in drinking water.
The dosage is:
Broilers: 15 mg amoxicillin/kg bw/day, for 5 days.
Fattening ducks: 20 mg amoxicillin/kg bw/day, for 3 days
Fattening turkey: 15 to 20 mg amoxicillin/kg bw/day, for 5 days.

WITHDRAWAL PERIODS

Meat and offal: Broiler: 1-day, Fattening ducks: 7 days, Fattening turkey: 5 days
Not for use in birds producing or intended to produce eggs for human consumption. Do not use during the 4 weeks before laying

STORAGE

Store in a dry place away from light. Store below 25 ºC
